‘Maithili Literature Festival’ (MLF) - the name itself made me curious about what new the festival has to offer and yes, it did not leave me disappointed At Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts (IGNCA), when I entered the auditorium on the 2nd day of MLF, I had no clue that I would be left spellbound by the most innovative amalgamation of literature and culture. This was the first time I attended a festival which was not just bilingual but multilingual i.e. in English, Hindi and Maithili. I attended 2 of its’ sessions, a discussion on ‘Baal Sahitya’ with learned panelists in conversation with Mr.Chandan Kumar Jha and the other one was ‘KaviGoshthi’, being a poetry lover this was my fabourite session. The food counters too had diverse vareity of cuisines of Mithila and some other parts of the country too. Overall it was a well - planned and well - organised event. I just hope such events are held more often, as this will make people more aware about our diversity.Another event that I attended this month was a Women’s Special Book Reading Session organized by Invincible Publishers, in association with BookPal on 17th March at Omaxe Celebration Mall, Gurugram. The chief guests for the event were Mrs.Poonam Huda, Women Safety Incharge and Sub Inspector Ms.Manjusha. Two of the publishing house’s best selling authors Mrs. Meenakshi Verma, author of The Divine Throne of Maharani Meeramani, and Mrs. MeennaDawar ‘Mohini’, author of JaltaPaani, read excerpts from their books to a very excited and amused audience. The session was also accompanied by a discussion on the safety of women in the city and some poetry recitation on the spirit of womanhood by the local poetry enthusiasts and patrons of BookPal and Invincible Publishers. The chief guests talked about the little safety measures that every woman must take care of. It was a pleasure being a part of such an efficient and informative event.
